In the quarterfinals, the Herbert Laurels spanked the Regina Western Christian Mustangs 84-41 as Ryan Falk and Kent Robertson each scored 22. Logan Williams led Western Christian with 12. Herbert led 51-21 at the half. The Mustangs also included Seong Bin Lee, Kole Oberkirsch, Zach Williams.
The Fillmore Falcons stomped the Craik Cougars 71-58. The hosts rallied from a 17-point first half deficit to pull out the win.
The Regina Harvest City Reapers crushed Eastend 71-41. Eastend took an early 14-5 lead before Harvest City began to find their range and trimmed the margin to one at the half. Harvey City hit five treys to start the second half and soon built a 51-35 lead. Miguel Morante paced Harvest City with 23 points. Dale Wig led Eastend with 28.
In the last quarterfinal, the 6th-seeded Saskatoon Christian Centre Academy Cougars nipped Rouleau 89-83.
In the semis, the Herbert Laurels stomped the Fillmore Falcons 87-61 as Ryan Falk scored 29. James Milton led the Falcons with 23.
In the other semi, the 6th-seeded Saskatoon Christian Cougars defeated the Regina Harvest City Reapers 64-53 as Dustin Williamson scored 14, Joseph Tarr 14 and Kurtis O’Soup 14. The Cougars, making their first appearance at Hoopla in just their third year of competition, played with poise. “This is unbelievable. We weren’t even supposed to be here,” Kurtis O’Soup told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. Joseph Tarr led Harvest City with 14 points.
In the bronze medal match, the Fillmore Falcons defeated the Regina Harvest City Reapers 59-51 as Devon Grieve scored 28. Colton Longpre led the Reapers with 20. The Reapers (coached by Joel Wells) also included Miguel Morante, Joseph Tarr.
In the final, the Herbert Laurels clipped the Saskatoon Christian Cougars 83-63 as Ryan Falk scored 19 and Andrew Fast 18. Lindsay Schmidt led Saskatoon Christian with 32. Jesse Kilpatrick added 19. The Laurels captured their second consecutive provincial title. “We really came out ready to play,” said Ryan Folk.
