The Fillmore Falcons nipped the Saskatoon Christian Centre Academy Cougars 71-67.
The Regina Harvest City Reapers whipped Star City 67-43. Harvest City led by 14 at the half and by as many as 30 in the second half.
The Herbert Laurels dumped the Luseland Arthur Geelan Lords 85-76 in overtime. Luseland led 16-10 after a quarter, 41-33 at the half and 55-49 after three quarters. Ryan Falk paced Herbert with 34. Cody Robertson added 17 and Andrew Fast 12. Jake Volk led Luseland with 18. Brent Eintz added 17 and Tyson Volk 16.
In the semis, the Regina Western Christian Mustangs edged the Fillmore Falcons 57-55. Western Christian led 18-17; 30-29 and 50-42 at the quarters. Fillmore rallied to knot the score at 50 but Western Christian won it at the line. Daniel Thue led Western Christian with 23. Johnathan Littman added 10. Dane Treble paced Fillmore with 14. Tegg Cross added 12. “The guys are pretty excited — and relieved — to be in the final again,” Western Christian coach Ryan Brennan told the Regina Leader-Post. “We wanted to come back and prove that we weren’t a one- year wonder.” Thue helped Western Christian hold off a late Fillmore rally. “They had about three chances to score at the end,” Brennan said. “We were up by two and we’d stop them, turn it over right away, and stop them again. The boys played really good defence at the end. We couldn’t score, but we played good defence. We scored four points in the last six minutes and barely held on. If the game had gone a minute longer, we would have been in trouble. It wasn’t pretty.”
In the other semi, the Herbert Laurels defeated the Regina Harvest City Reapers 90-71. Zach McGrandle hit a pair of treys in the first four minutes to give Harvest City the early lead but Ryan Falk soon took control and led Herbert to a 41-35 lead at the half. Herbert opened the second frame with a 10-0 run and romped. Kent Robertson paced the Laurels with 27. Ryan Falk added 27. Tim Braun shadowed Regina sharpshooter Colton Longpre all game, holding him to 19. “They both really stepped up,” said Herbert coach George Janzen. Cody Patterson led the Reapers with 15.
In the bronze medal match, the Regina Harvest City Reapers defeated the Fillmore Falcons 75-54. Harvest City built a 15-point lead in the first half and romped. Zach McGrandle and Cody Patterson each scored 21 for Harvest City. Dane Treble paced Fillmore with 13.
In the final, the Herbert Laurels defeated the Regina Western Christian Mustangs 60-56. Andrew Fast iced the win with a long trey with 31 seconds on the clock. Ryan Falk paced the Laurels with 26. Kent Robinson added 10. Johnathan Littman led the defending champs with 12. Daniel Thue added 8.
