In the provincial quarterfinals and regional finals, the Eastend Echoes smacked the Herbert Laurels 104-42.

        The Hepburn Hawks spanked the Paradise Hill Panthers 134-44.

        The Asquith Athletics blasted Star City 108-78.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Wishart Marauders dispatched the Norquay Nikes 43-32.

In the semis, the Eastend Echoes torched the Wishart Marauders 90-26 as Kevin Gilroy scored 24 and Ryan Zabolotney 16. Albert Prisiak paced the Marauders with 10. Paul Suchy added 7.

        In the other semi, the Hepburn Hawks dusted the Asquith Athletics 81-58 as Darren Berg scored 22 and Duane Guenther 21. The Hawks led 38-23 at the half. Hawks coach Bob McDougall told the Regina Leader-Post that “we were pretty excited coming into this. We were here last year and finished fourth, so we wanted to do well. Our up-the-floor work really helped us tonight. We can’t rely on the boards because we don’t have a really big guy who’s over 6-4.” Shayne Lazarowich paced the Athletics with 16. Chris Johnson added 16. Athletics coach Bob Weenk said “we choked. We’ve never played in front of this kind of crowd before and they just choked up real tight. That happens.”

        In the bronze medal match, the Asquith Athletics clocked the Wishart Marauders 65-53 as Darren Huckabay scored 21 and Shane Lazarowich 12. Paul Suchy led the Marauders with 18. Albert Prisiak added 12.

In the final, the Eastend Echoes ended a four-year reign as provincial bridesmaids by clubbing the Hepburn Hawks 81-64 as Kevin Gilroy scored 24, while nabbing 15 boards. Steve Grubbe added 17, while Bryan Lundsten dished 15 assists. Gilroy told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “we were hoping to get off to a fast start and that’s exactly what we did. I just wanted to win all this year.” Echoes coach Ron Lundsten said “this is sweet. We’ve waited four years for this.” The Echoes led 46-33 at the half. Darren Berg paced the Hawks with 28. Chris Nickel added 10. Hawks coach Bob McDougall said “we knew that (they had a big size advantage). But knowing that and being able to do something about it are two different things.”
