In the semis, the Central Butte Bulldogs defeated the Gladmar Falcons 51-49 as Daryl Bitz hit two free throws in the final seconds of play. David Schmidt paced Central Butte with 17. David Vorsey added 14. Rob Tessier, Rob Axter and Laine Stefan each scored 10 for Gladmar.
In the other semi, the Hepburn Hawks pounded Punnichy 82-44 as Sheldon Willems scored 20 and Terry Schmidt 14. Eddie Walter and Dwayne Mlynarczy scored 12 apiece for Punnichy.
In the bronze medal match, the Gladmar Falcons dusted Punnichy 66-44 as Doug Casler scored 25.
In the final, the Central Butte Bulldogs defeated the Hepburn Hawks 77-41. The Bulldogs rallied from a 15-6 deficit with a 28-6 run to take a 34-23 lead at the half. Dale Peterson paced the Bulldogs with 28. David Schmidt added 15, David Volsey 13, Grant Chapman 9, Aetkins 4, Daryl Bitz 4, Anderson 2 and Hartness 2. Randy Priebe paced Hepburn with 11. Lorin Bergen and Sheldon Willems each added 8, Terry Schmidt 6, Bildstein 6 and Andres 2. Bulldogs coach Doug English told the Regina Leader-Post that “this was our goal at the beginning of the season. That’s been the goal since these kids were in grade seven and eight actually.” English said the Bulldogs received “outstanding” efforts from Dale Peterson, David Volsey and Grant Chapman. “I was worried and wondered what to do. We changed defences three times from a man-to-man to two zones. Our full-court zone press really screwed them up.”
