The 5th-seeded North Battleford Vikings dumped the 4th-seeded Regina Luther Lions 59-47. “We didn’t go last year so it’s pretty exciting for it to happen in my last year,’ Jordin Wilkinson told the Regina Leader-Post. Wilkinson paced the Vikings with 16. 6-3 post Angela Bongomin paced the Lions with 18. “We knew she was their leading scorer and our post (Nahoni Tootoosis) did a great job,’ Wilkinson said. “We got them frustrated.’ The Vikings led 21-13 after one quarter and 33-21 at the half. Bongomin said the Vikings defence troubled her. “It worked but it was also about me getting inside my own head. The more I played, the more I got into my mental place and negativity. When I get really stressed out, I want everything to be quick and I don’t slow down enough. Their defence was stellar and there wasn’t anything we could do.’ The Lions rallied to within 40-35 in the third quarter but the Vikings exploded back to a 47-35 third-quarter lead. “That was an awful halfcourt press,’ said Luther guard Jenn Tran. “It was hard to fight through it and it was hard to find Angela, which is usually our solution to everything. I think all of the emotions of this possibly being our last game got to us. We played with our hearts in the second half and that’s what our goal was.” Lions post Alex Klatt said “it’s really emotional for both teams, especially for us. We’ve had such a good season with winning the city title and LIT. Even though we ended it with a loss, our season was still unreal. We made some really good memories and friends. It sucks to have it end this way.” The Lions (coached by Janet Cook, assisted by Logan Harris and Andrea McCaig) also included Jaden Cook, Rose Manoah, Christina Macdonald, Lydia Onasanya, Emily Digney, Jenn Kemp, Kayla Blakley, Ally Jackson, Emily Reaume and Holly Gilroy.
The 2nd-seeded Warman Wolverines crushed the 10th-seeded Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings 86-47. The Vikings (coached by Greg Reidy, assisted by Bob Gottselig) included Tori Beattie, Abby Warren, Hana Giddings, Jenna Coates, Amanda Miller, Alyssa Miller, Abbi Flanagan, Rebecka Flanagan.

In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Warman Wolverines edged the 3rd-seeded Regina Lumsden Angels 76-70.
In the bronze medal match, the 3rd-seeded Regina Lumsden Angels clipped the 5th-seeded North Battleford Vikings 67-55 as Dayna Pearce scored 26. The Vikings included Keanna Price, Jodin Wilkinson, Nahoni Tootoosis.
In the final, the top-seeded Moose Jaw A.E. Peacock Toilers dispatched the 2nd-seeded Warman Wolverines 75-65. The Toilers trailed by 10 early and by six in the fourth quarter, but rallied to capture their second consecutive title. “We made sure we didn’t get down on ourselves. We trusted each other and we knew that we weren’t going to lose. We had confidence,” Macaela Crone told the Moose Jaw Times Herald. Warman led 27-17 after one quarter after hitting six treys (and 12 on the night). “We came in knowing they were going to hit some shots,” said Crone. “They have some great (Team Sask.) players. We knew they were going to hit threes, but Libby (Epoch) did a great job defending Faith Reid and Ceanna (Bruce) did a great job on Chelsey Misskey.” Peacock kept chipping away at the lead, but three times they got to within a point and Warman pulled away again. In the fourth quarter the Toilers went on a 19-2 run. “That’s what you expect from good teams. We said to the girls ‘every good team is going to go on a run but how do we react to that team when they go on that run?’ I think our girls reacted very well,” said Peacock head coach Renee Verge. Crone paced the Toilers with 29. Epoch scored 22, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Caitlyn Kitts added 11. “We came out with some intensity and emotion,” said Kitts. “In the first quarter we were kind of stagnant emotionally. In the fourth quarter we knew we needed to get fired up and play with emotion and that made the difference.” Epoch said “we knew we had to use our fitness to our advantage and I think we wore away at them. It really became a defensive game. We knew we could score; we just had to really stop them on defence. Once we got some stops our offence came to life.” Verge noted “it was exactly what we’ve been prepping for. We are truly the two best teams in this classification and we knew this was not going to be easy. It definitely wasn’t. We knew this game was going to be won with solid defence and that’s when we won this game, when we stepped it up defensively in the fourth quarter.” Misskey led Warman with 28. Reid added 17 and Breanne Boy 13. Kitts said “every girl on this team has shown tremendous improvement from the very first practice. They’re making shots, playing good defence, they’re reading defences and doing things I never thought we could have done as a team. They caught on so quickly. Everyone is so amazing on the court and off of it and I’m going to miss them so much.
