The Bears cranked up their defensive pressure in the final five minutes to pull out the win. “That was the game,” Bowman coach Jill Ford told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. “In that timeout with about five to go, we said it’s time to step up and take control. They went and did it. Sarah Perret was unbelievable on defence. She was so excited. She did such a great job on Cymone Bouchard.” It was a task, said Perret. “I knew she was quick and could shoot but I was confident in my team behind me. I’m really glad I could do something to help the team.” Perrett held Bouchard to 18, and only two in the critical final five minutes. O’Neill led 36-32 at the half as Bowman struggled to handle the transition game. “We were making sloppy mistakes we hadn’t made all year,” said Ford. “The defence wasn’t there and O’Neill was playing well.” Carolyn Ganes led Bowman with 35, including 14 in a row during one stretch. Lara Spagrud added 15, Chelsie Schafer 8, Desiree Dyck 7, Sarah Perret 4 and Candice Wionzek 1. Bowman had led 59-58 heading into the final five minutes. “This is so exciting,” said Perret. “We knew we could beat this team and that we were good enough to be in the final.
