In the provincial quarterfinals, the Regina Campbell Tartans nipped the Moose Jaw A.E. Peacock Toilers 61-60 as Farah Smith scored 21, Christa Fowler 16, along with 8 steals and 6 boards, and Melissa Mclaughlin 14. Andrea Gottselig led the Toilers with 17. Medoran Harris added 14. Fowler told the Regina Leader-Post that “last practice, we had situations. Like we’re up two and the other team has the ball. We did situations to get us practicing with our brains. By the end of 40 minutes, your physical strength isn’t always there, so your brain has to be there. It has to be second nature or it’s just not going to work.” Campbell led 29-23 at the half and 53-44 with seven minutes to play. Peacock rallied to within 58-57 with three minutes to play. Tartans coach Joanne Chabot said “they keep doing this to me. (After the city final), we practiced being close with 30 seconds left. We played beautifully. We did exactly what we were supposed to do.” The Toilers took a 60-59 lead on two free throws by Angela Lawrnece. Campbell worked the ball inside to Smith for a post-up with 16 seconds to play. Peacock’s Stacey Arnold heaved a trey off the buzzer as time expired.” Peacock coach Lindee Zieffle said “I’m not going to fault our players for doing that. She took a chance and it didn’t go in.” Fowler said “it was a little bit too closed. We didn’t really come out like we wanted. We won ugly, but we won.”
In the other quarterfinal, the Saskatoon Evan Hardy Souls spanked the Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders 66-55 as Jackie Brecknell scored 14 and Rhelda Mackay 13. The Souls led 29-18 but Thorsen scored eight unanswered to fally the Crusaders to a 32-31 lead at the half. Soul guard Julie Smulan told the Regina Leader-post that “we got a little frantic, rushing our offence instead of taking our time. At half, we just sat quiet and thought about the game, how we had to calm down emotionally if we wanted to win. Then in the second half, we slowed down our offence and picked up our defence.” Souls coach John Lockwood said “our veterans showed the leadership to get us back into the game and that paid off.” Charlene Craig said “we though about how much we wanted it and realized the only way we could win would be if we stepped up our intensity. We just can’t want our season to end now.” Cherayl Thorsen led the Crusaders with 21. Lindsay Dalziel added 11. The Crusaders also included Regan Siwak, Novalle Chubak. Crusaders coach Nancy Dragan said “I thought the momentum had shifted (at the half) but the trouble is we had some mental lapses. We threw the ball away. We usually pass way better than we did today.”

In the final, the Regina Sheldon-Williams Spartans defeated the Saskatoon Aden Bowman Bears 62-46 as Amy Micklebrough scored 17, while nabbing 10 boards. Jaime Stewart added 16, Janet Cook 13, Zdena Podwin 9 and Shannon Johnstone 8. Laura Esmail paced the Bears with 14. Keri Thompson added 8. The Spartans had captured the 5A crown in 1992. Stewart told the Regina Leader-Post that “we want to order shorts that have ‘back-to-back’ written on the bums. We thought we have to win because we’ll have all this paraphernalia. Nothing could go wrong for us. The desire was so great. … It’s nice when you can put someone else on the coaches and players expect the same thing out of both. The bench pulls us through. We know we can put anybody on and nothing will lapse.” The Bears led 11-10 early but then went eight minutes without scoring a point. Esmail told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “nothing would fall for us. We tried to run the offence as well as we could but nothing was falling. It was like they put a lid on the basket. We lost our composure after that and they just outplayed us.” Spartans guard Janet Cook said it felt like such a close game and every shot and every rebound was so intense. The score didn’t seem to show the real game.” Bears coach Layra Farmer said “we came out strong and then we seemed to start second-guessing ourselves. Sheldon’s press was phenomenal. They had a great Fastbreak. They could see we were second-guessing ourselves and the tempo of their game picked up right away. You can’t go cold on a team like that.”
