In the other semi, the Swift Current Ardens torched the Saskatoon Bishop James Mahoney Saints 66-36 as Lise Wilson scored 18, Karen Harvey 10, Rea Peters 8 and Marci Dumesnil 8. Kim Donovel led the Saints with 15.
In the bronze medal match, the North Battleford Comprehensive Viqueesn clipped the Saskatoon Bishop J. Mahoney Saints 48-38 as Linda Bohse scored 15, Charmaine Anderson 14 and Laura Sternig 8. Kim Donovel led the Saints with 14. Angy Tittle added 9 and Mandy Youde 7. The Saints also included Brenda Beavis, Renee Westgard.
In the final, the Swift Current Ardens captured their fifth consecutive crown and handed retiring coach Marj Brown a retirement gift by defeating the Regina Michael A. Riffel Royals 72-49 as Lise Wilson scored 15, Karen Harvey 13, Marci Dumesnil 12 and Janet Redekopp 12. Alisa Holt led the Royals with 26. Alana Holt added 12 and Lisa Miller 6. Ardens coach Mary Brown told the Regina Leader-Post that “this one is the best because it’s my last and because it’s the most recent. I know the amount of time you need to put into coaching a strong program and with three kids, it’s difficult. Rathern than do it with less intensity, I’d rather hand it over to somebody else.” Royals coach Sandy Harazny said “we gave up a lot of quick points and that made it tough to come back. You don’t come back against a team that powerful.” Harazny told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “they’re an excellent team. Everyone of them is strong and everyone a good ballhandler. And they have an aggressive attitude.”
