After that the rest of the team got right in there rebounding and playing real good defence. … Hardy seemed a little shell-shocked in the first half. We let up a little on defensive rebounding in the second half and I think that made a difference to the score.” Souls coach Pat Wegner said “they really beat us in the first half. We shot only 4-30 in the first half. In the second half, they only outscored us by one.”

        In the provincial semis, the Saskatoon Evan Hardy Souls defeated the Regina Marian Saints 50-46.

        In the other semi, the Saskatoon Mount Royal Mustangs defeated Regina Dr. Martin LeBoldus Golden Suns 65-56.

        In the bronze medal match, the Regina Marian Saints dispatched the Regina Dr. Martin LeBoldus Golden Suns 56-51 in double overtime. The Golden Suns led 21-18 at the half. The score was knotted at 42 after regulation and at 46 after the first overtime. Golden Suns coach Debbie Ward told the Regina Leader-Post that “if we had shot better, we would have won. Their shooting was unconscious. They played a super basketball game. We had everything to lose and they had nothing. It’s not like we didn’t try.” Brenda Erick paced the Saints with 17. Carole Doyle added 9. Sheila McCudden led the Golden Suns with 12. Pam Schwann added 10 and Sharon Kubian 10. The Golden Suns also included Anna Rizak, Graham, Mae Lockert, Tracey Livingston and Annette Kuntz.

        In the final, the Saskatoon regular season league runner-up Evan Hardy Souls upset regular season champ Mount Royal 53-47 to avenge a 55-35 drubbing in the Saskatoon city final. Jay Kost scored 19 for Evan Hardy. Darlene Nykiforuk added 14, Anderson 6, Kirby 4 and McAskill 2, while McFarlane and Kristjanson were scoreless. Janice Henick paced Mount Royal with 14. Bev Roberts added 10, Miner 9, Joan Patola 5, Morris 3 and Nash 2, while Sethi and Guenther were scoreless. Mount Royal coach Lorraine Wright told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “they wanted it more than we did. We didn’t play as well as we could have and Hardy played very well.” Evan Hardy coach Pat Wegner told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “I have to agree with Lorraine that the kids were ready. We were hoping all along that we could meet Mount Royal somewhere in the tournament. We felt we could make a show of it this time. We put on a little pressure and it worked. It gave us a few steals but more importantly it threw them off offensively.” The Mustangs led 21-20 at the half but Joan Patola picked up three quick fouls in the second half and was forced to the bench. She scored only 5, well under her average of 22 per game. Souls coach Pat Wegner told the Regina Leader-Post said that Patola “hurts us and we knew we had to put the lid on her. The kids just seemed ready.” Mustangs coach Lorraine Wright said “it certainly hurt us scoring-wise and the team depends on her for leadership. They just took it away from us.”
