In the opening round: …………………………………………………… The Meadow Lake Carpenter Spartans stomped the Swift Current Colts 75-35. The Spartans led 41-15 at the half. “We were able to keep the pressure and were dominant during most of that game,” said coach Tim Johnstone. “We got to play some of our younger players to give them court time, and were able to see how they do in a tournament setting. It was a good game and nice to see the 40-point gap.” …………………………………………………… The Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders defeated the North Battleford John Paul II Crusaders 48-37 in a defensive battle. Brandon Palmier led Johnson with 25. Brandon Whitehouse added 15. Peacock broke to an 11-0 led and extended their margin to 42-24 at the half. “We had a really nice start and moved the ball really well… I’m really pleased, we played some really good basketball tonight,” said Toilers head coach Bryan Adams. “At this time of year, with all the work for five months and the preparation and everything, we hope the result will be some positive things and it was tonight.” Johnson did make things interesting as the game progressed, putting together an 11-2 run to pull within 11 with 4:05 remaining, but that would be as far as the Toilers would bend. Palmier played a large role in the Johnson near-comeback with his ball control, slashing drives to the basket and long-distance shooting. “He’s played for them in all three years we’ve played against them in important games, starting with Hoopla three years ago,” Adams said of the Grade 12 guard. “He’s really a great kid, and he shot some key threes and tried to get them back it.” The Wildcats also included Matthew Dovell, Andre Smith, Dallas Roske. …………………………………………………… The Prince Albert St. Mary Marauders defeated the Saskatoon Bedford Road Redmen 73-63 as Casper Read scored 17 and Colton Link 16.         In the quarterfinals, the host Meadow Lake Carpenter Spartans crushed the Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders 71-49. “They were definitely scrappy,” said Spartans coach Tim Johnstone. “They came out ready to play, but we had the upper hand for most of the game. It was a challenging game, and we probably could have played a little more consistently, but we were able to work on our systems. We won our games, but didn’t play the best we could. There were times when our drive just wasn’t there.”

The Moose Jaw Central Cyclones defeated Yorkton Regional Raiders 74-65.

The North Battleford Vikings stomped the Yorkton Sacred Heart Saints 97-53 as Brayden Roshker scored 24. Kyle Kuschar led Sacred Heart with 19.

In the final, the North Battleford Vikings nipped the Meadow Lake Carpenter Spartans 66-62. The squads had met six times during the season. “It was just a war,” Vikings coach Bryan Cottin told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. “We just ended up getting the last possession. Pretty much every tournament final we’ve been to, we’ve seen them. So we knew them pretty well.” The teams were tied 30-30 at half-time. “Our point guard, Colin Keys, who has been our big player all year, was in foul trouble,” said Cottin. “The rest of the team stepped up in his absence, especially Braden Roschker. He was an animal for us.” Carpenter coach Jesse Shakotko said “we played really well. It was a fierce battle, back and forth. There was never more than two or three points between us. We would get a big shot and they would come right back and get another big shot. There was not a lot else we could have done differently. We played really well and they are a really great team. It came down to a matter of who hit the last shot. We are so evenly matched. Our boys did everything we wanted to do, we focused on their point guard and played strong. I have said they would be the only team we would want to lose to. They are a good group of guys. We know them well and we have a good rivalry. It’s really friendly. It’s hard that somebody has to lose in the end, but we did better than last year. They were ranked number on all year so it wasn’t like we lost our number one, we just couldn’t pull it off.”
