Four Marauders, Chris Simair, Quinn Colby, Adam Pearson and Jess Harnett, had four fouls while Vikings Quinn Murphy and Billy McGrath fouled out. The Marauders effectively double-teamed any Viking who strayed into the post. “They didn’t know what to do after that. On offence, we managed to go through and go into our post,” Marauders coach Dale Regel told the Prince Albert Daily Herald. “We have five Grade 12s. Having them go to Hoopla in their Grade 12 year means a lot to them.” Simair said “I think our team has great balance. I think that everyone contributes equally.

Chance Willis led Johnson with 29. Caronport led 40-30 at the half. “We had some opportunities and we had some shots,” Johnson coach Jeff Perry told the Regina Leader-Post. “That’s all you can ask for. I don’t think we lost. Balgonie led 33-31 at the half. “This is just a great thing for our school,” Balgonie coach Leigh Roberts told the Regina Leader-Post, noting than 10 years earlier, the Griffins didn’t even have a basketball program, until predecessor Bill Weir started one. Gagnon said the win will be memorable. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to tell stories about this to my kids when I’m old. I’ll show them the medal and all the action. My mom was there taking pictures so we’ll have lots to remember it by. That’s what it’s all about, remembering the good times and creating more in the future.” Roberts said he felt a “combination of relief and maybe disappointment that the whole thing had to end. When you’re on a high, you want to keep going. Not having a practice on Monday will create a bit of a void in their lives. It’ll be an adjustment for everyone, including me, but it’s going to be nice. We can’t help but feel satisfied with the season we had.”
