In the final, the Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders edged the Yorkton Regional Raiders 71-69 in overtime to capture their fourth consecutive crown. Ryan Molitwenik was fouled with five seconds to play and the Crusaders trailing by three. He hit the first free throw, deliberately missed the second but got the rebound for a putback that forced overtime. In the extra session, Mel Mercredi hit a pair of free throws in the final minute to pull out the win for the Crusaders. Carlton coach Rob Clarke told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “I was already writing my defeat speech to the boys when we were down by 10 and three minutes left. But in the last five seconds (of regulation) I was thinking if we were going to win, we would win because of our experience and because of experienced players like Ryan Molitwenik and he was the guy that got it in there. I was hoping Yorkton would either foul or freeze. They had played good defensively on us all game but I think they panicked in the end.” Clarke said Molitwenik join Sean Belsher (1989) and Russell Dawson (1990) in making the clutch play in a provincial championship game. “I’m happy for the kid. It’s his last year and he was the leader all year long and it’s only fitting that the leader ends up winning for us. But that seems to be the case with our team leaders.” Mark Hippe paced the Raiders with 20.
