 In the provincial semis, the Regina Campbell Tartans defeated the Saskatoon Walter Murray Marauders 69-48. With the teams tied at four, Campbell went on an 11-0 run and quickly took a 30-19 lead at the break and ran away. Campbell led 50-29 when Walter Murray briefly rallied with an 8-0 run. But the rally stalled. Murray Douglas led Campbell, which had finished 16-1 in Regina league play, with 15 points including 12 in the first half. Brian Buttrey added 12. Garth Walker paced Walter Murray with 10.

In the other semi, the Regina league runner-up Miller Marauders defeated the Saskatoon Bedford Road Redmen 69-60. Bedford Road was ahead 27-21 at the half on a late 6-0 run. But Miller took over the second half and started to run. Miller tied it at 33 and then took control with an 11-0 run. Marty Dansereau led Miller with 19 points. Roger Fischer added 16 and Mike Foggarty 14. Marauders coach Merv Prier told the Regina Leader-Post that “I wasn’t really that worried about our shooting in the first half. I was more concerned about our running. We were just not running and making thngs happen. … We played quite a bit better in the second half. We started to run and that is when you make some baskets.” Randy Watson paced Bedford Road with 16. Brent Stevens added 11, Wayne Makowecky 10 and Jack DeArmond 10. Bedford Road coach Ralph Schoenfeld said “we could have easily won the game if we had played up to our capabilities. Are guys are used to playing in the city final but it is a new experience bein in the provincial (semi). This is a few ball game entirely. There just was not the same emotion as we had in the city final.”

In the bronze medal match, the Saskatoon Walter Murray Marauders defeated the Saskatoon Bedford Road Redmen 71-65 as Don Burgess scored 19, Tom Groat 15, Cal Maj 10 and Dave Fowler 9. Rod Friesen led the Redmen with 18. Kyle Kelly added 11 and Randy Watson 10. The Redmen (coached by Ralph Schoenfeld) also included Brent Stevens, Wayne Makowecky, Jack De Armond, Renato Brudehl.

In the final, the Regina Campbell Tartans beat the Regina Miller Marauders 75-63. Campbell was ahead 19-15 midway through the first half and led 31-20 with seven minutes to go when Miller coach Merv Prior was hit with a technical for protesting an officiating call. Campbell pulled ahead 43-30 and while Miller closed to within 47-40 in the second half, they lost three guards (Stacy Delwo, Kim Hauck and Drew Ruschiensky) to fouls and never really challenged. Brian Buttrey scored 15 for Campbell, Murray Douglas tossed in 21, including 15 in the first half. Mark McLenahan added 14. Tartans coach Bill Petersmayer told the Regina Leader-post that “I think these guys just worked their hearts out. They never let up. I really think they played well. Douglas and Buttery both played super, the whole team did. I really think that the provincial title, the second time around because everybody is out to get you all season. I can never say enough about these guys. They put together a fantastic defence and that is what we needed.” Roger Fisher paced Miller with 17. Drew Ruschiensky scored 12 and Marty Dansereau 11. Marauders coach Merv Prier said “Campbell is one of the best high school basketball teams I have ever seen. We lost to a better team. I thought Buttrey hurt us badly. He just did a fine job on the boards.”
