In the provincial final, the Regina Luther Lions defeated the Saskatoon Mount Royal Tigers 36-31 as Pat Foster hit three free throws in the first quarter to give the Lions an 8-6 lead. Luther was ahead 18-11 at the half. Foster dominated the boards in the third quarter despite the taller northern champs. Luther scored 12 in the second half to lead 30-21 but Mount Royal came roaring back in the fourth quarter as Bill Hook keyed a 10-6 fourth quarter rally. Foster finished with 13 for Luther. Hook finished with 15 for Mount Royal, including six in the final quarter. With four minutes to play and Luther ahead by 7, Foster took control with a ball control display to run out the clock. Bud Walker added 7 for Luther, Clayton Gainer 6, Walter Yeo 4, Lorne Usher 4 and Peter Duncan 2. Richard Back added 8 for Mount Royal. Eugene Horbay added 4 and Cameron Gjosund 4. Regina Luther finished (27-7) on the season, including several wins over U.S. squads.
