Stacy Wilson led the Redmen with 16. Tricia Strieloff added 14 and Nicole Naconechny 14. Alanna Holt told the Regina Leader-Post that “it always seems like we play better defence when we’re behind. We got up by 20 in the second half and relaxed.” Royals coach Sandy Harazny said “I hoped Aden Bowman (the Royals foe in the finals) charted our offence because I sure didn’t see it out there. … I don’t think we were psychologically ready for the game. We had other things to do (Thursday) like getting checked into our rooms and going to a restaurant. We didn’t have time to focus on this game. … I’m not really proud of the way we played. We were brutal the whole game.” Redmen coach Patti Rowley told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “it was quite a physical game. We just couldn’t adjust.” The Royals took a quick 11-4 lead and romped. Harazny said “they did their job. We didn’t play very well but we’ll take the win.” Wilson said “luck seemed to be with them too. Loose balls always ended up in their hands.”

In the other semi, the Saskatoon Aden Bowman Bears spanked the Regina Martin Monarchs 76-58 as Nan Anderson scored 29, Diane Lees 20 and Shannon Tiffin 20. The score was knotted at 42 in the second half when the Bears ripped off an 11-0 run, including six by Shawna Simpson. Simpson told the Regina Leader-Post that “we knew we had to pick up our concentration the way we had it earlier in the game.” Martin coach Dale Finch, whose Monarchs led 31-29 early in the second half, said “it was like, great, we’re ahead. Somebody call a timeout and let the clock run down so we can go home.” Michelle Warmerdam led the Monarchs with 17, Kesha Janke 16 and Tracey Melnyk 14.

Royals coach Sandy Harazny told the Regina Leader-Post that “I did tell her to shoot but I didn’t tell her to shoot from there. We don’t shoot three-pointers but we’re glad to take this one.” Holt said “I was looking around for someone to pass to. There was nobody open and I looked up and thought, I can make this, so I let it go.” Riffel’s Lisa Miller all but shut down Bowman’s Nan Anderson. Miller “loves those defensive assignments,” Harazny said. “She was just waiting for the chance to play against her.” Miller said “we wanted this game so bad. It was our number one goal all year. I can’t believe it.” Bears assistant Alaina Kot said “it was heartbreaking. We wanted to peak right at the end of the season and it didn’t quite work that way.”
