Jonah Pritchard hit 1-2 from the line with 4.8 seconds on the clock to give the Guardians the win. Mason Dirham, who toiled for all four championship units, told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that it was “such a tremendous feeling, I can’t even fathom it. It’s crazy. I just can’t believe I finally accomplished this. I never thought I ever would have won here four times. I’m definitely one of the lucky ones.” Trailing by seven with two minutes to play, the Crusaders rallied to knot the score on back-to-back buckets by Baha Salma and a trey by Bryan Ahat with 19.8 seconds to play. After Pritchard’s free throw, a Salma drive to rim was blocked as time expired. “It was a heck of a basketball game,” said Guardian head coach Matt Harbidge. “Both teams came out and worked their butt off. It came down right to the last possession and it was just a really fun game. I don’t think it’s really set in yet that we ended up winning.” Crusaders coach Brett Hardy said “we got in tough in the first quarter. We battled back in the second to kind of be relevant within the game. And then it was kind of back-and-forth. I hand it to the guys to kind of battle back and put us in the situation we were with five seconds left with an opportunity to score and maybe win the game.”

In the provincial quarterfinals, the top-seeded Saskatoon St. Joseph Guardians spanked the 8th-seeded Estevan Elecs 75-59 after leading 51-25 at the half. Josh Pohve paced the Guardians with 22. The Guardians led 27-14 after one quarter and 51-25 at the half. “There were a lot of nerves with the big game,” Elecs coach Carmon Lindquist told the Estevan Mercury. “We got down in the first half by a fair little bit, but in the second half, when everything settled, we played right with them. It was a good game. … (Over the course of the tournament, including consolation games), we played well defensively. We had a couple of times where we got caught a little bit on the fast breaks and gave up some easy buckets, but overall we played very strong defensively. We forced a lot of turnovers on other teams as well, including their guards, and got hands in the lanes.” Josh Andres led the Elecs with 24. Clark Cabiluna added 14. In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Saskatoon Holy Cross Crusaders dusted the 6th-seeded Regina Winston Knoll Wolverines 99-57 after leading 43-33 at the half. Bryan Ahat paced the Crusaders with 25. Nathan Hamilton led the Wolverines with 13.
In the bronze medal match, the top-seeded Saskatoon St. Joseph Guardians thrashed the 6th-seeded Regina Winston Knoll Wolverines 80-60 after leading 39-26 at the half. In the final, the 2nd-seeded Saskatoon Holy Cross Crusaders whipped the 4th-seeded Regina Dr. Martin LeBoldus Golden Suns 76-57 as Seth Hundeby scored 19, Ramsey Derbas 18 and Bryan Ahat 17. Connor Morley paced the Golden Suns with 13. Crusaders coach Brett Hardy told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that winning a title with his father Dave, as the assistant coach was “really special. … It’s something I’m going to remember for the rest of my life. He coached me growing up, and to coach with him was just awesome. … “You’ve got to give credit where credit is due. My dad coached Hilltops and basketball, he has a wealth of experience. He’s really a calming influence and great with the guys. He deserves that last link.” The Crusaders led 19-11, 40-31 and 60-43 at the quarters.
