In the small school regional quarterfinals: …………………………………………………… The top-seeded Prince Albert St. Mary Marauders dusted the 8th-seeded Balgonie Greenall Griffins 118-54. …………………………………………………… The 4th-seeded Estevan Elecs dispatched the 5th-seeded Swift Current Colts 87-73. “We knew this would be a physical game,” explained Colts coach Andrew Judge told the Southwest Booster that “Estevan’s post players were able to make every shot without fail, and they clearly worked on some pass play and drop steps to make the most of their inside game. While Cyril Amoyen had a great game in terms of shooting beyond the arch, he and Mitch Braun struggled with the constant double team, and we hit a bit of a wall at the end of the third quarter. We couldn’t seem to make any shots, and a lot of our passes came late. With two of our post players not in attendance, Tanner Williams managed to get plenty of rebounds at both ends, but Braedon Friesen (our youngest post player), while denying a lot of passes, struggled to keep up with the physical game play needed under the rim.” Cyril Amoyen led the Colts with 23. Dylan Mortenson added 14 and Tanner Williams 10. Basically, we decided if they were going to beat us it would have to be him and he did.” The Vikings forced the Raiders into a perimeter game. “The three-point game is not our strength, but they played well on defence and we had a hard time getting things moving to the basket so that was all we had available,” said Payne.
