In the other semi, the Saskatoon Walter Murray Marauders edged the Regina Campbell Tartans 91-88 as Scott Ferguson scored 32 and Ryan Hindmarsh 26. John Lewis led the Tartans with 18. Ryan Schoenhals added 17. Hindmarsh told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix “I’m so exhausted. I think everyone’s exhausted. It was tough. That full-court pressure, it’s just running back and forth all the time, up tempo.” Marauders coach Rueben Peters said “we’re used to playing that way. We practice that way. We aren’t very easy on each other in practice. They hammer each other and this game is natural for them. They don’t mind if they can do some banging as long as the other team does it as well.” With the score knotted at 88, the Tartan’s Aaron Linnen fouled Hindmarsh, who hit 1-2 from the line. Campbell missed its ensuing shot. Hindmarsh was fouled by Leigh Roberts and hit 2-2 from the line. Hindmarsh said “I think they were just panic*king. They missed their shot and just couldn’t get the rebound and kind of grabbed guys. That’s why they got the intentional foul – panicking and maybe a bit of frustration.” Tartans coach Glenn Szabo said “I thought we did quite well there. We moved the ball around, got the shots we wanted. We made the defensive stops we needed. We had the guys we wanted on the floor and with 13 secons left, we’re driving for a go-ahead bucket. What more can you ask for? You get a chance to win it. Your destiny’s in your hands and unfortunately, the coin came up Marauders this time … We weren’t able to keep them away from the basket enough and they second and third chances.” Marauders coach Rueben Peters said Szabo “did a lot of subbing and I only went to two guys on our bench. I thought by the time the last five minutes rolled around we wouldn’t have any gas. But even though they were tired, they just didn’t give up. For the last five minutes, it was sheer determination.”

In the bronze medal match, the Regina Campbell Tartans edged the Regina M.A. Riffel Royals 68-64 as Ryan Schoenhals scored 23 and Aaron Linnen 16. Drew Hunter led the Royals with 16. In the final, the Saskatoon Evan Hardy Souls defeated the Saskatoon Walter Murray Marauders 79-66 as Regan Switucka scored 26, Kirk Homenik 22 and Kevin Tysowski 17. Ryan Hindmarsh paced the Marauders with 28. Homenik told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “for four of us, this was our last game and I mean playing your last game in a packed gym in your own school, there’s no better way to end it off. It’s just great. This feels really good. A bunch of us guys in grade 12 and even the guys in grade 11 have been looking up at these (Walter Murray) guys the last two or three years. The season’s been great. We’ve had a near perfect record. We just played our hearts out and had a good time. It’s just been the best.” Souls coach Jeff Colquhoun said “I’m like that Toyota commercial: ‘oh, what a season’. We’ve really been building on this since last year when we lost (to Murray) by two in the provincial final.” The Souls took and early 16-10 lead and maintained a comfortable lead til the final buzzer. Marauders coach Rueben Peters said “we just couldn’t get anything tonight. The shots were there. They just didn’t fall in those 10 minutes and we got behind and we never recovered.” Colquhoun said “the key was we executed defensively probably the best we have all season. I thought Kirk was the intimidator at the back. When we did overplay too much, he really came through and supported the whole thing. … He was kind of the backstop of it all.” Tysowski said “it’s all on the line. You’ve got to give it all you’ve got. There’s no second chance. You just have to do your best and if you get lucky, sometimes the ball falls in.”
