Ryan Hoffman paced the Tartans with 18. Rob Ford added 18 and Gord Philp 12. Marauders coach Mike Harrington told the Regina Leader-post that “we had some foul trouble the people we put off the bench did a jog. They kept us in the game. If we hadn’t had that kind of depth, we’d have been struggling.” Tartans coach Glenn Szabo said “we had the opportunities and just didn’t make the most of them. Not playing together offensively at the end hurt us as well. … They did a nice job in transition and we were slow getting back in transition.”

In the other semi, the Saskatoon Evan Hardy Souls dumped the Regina Balfour Redmen 62-52 as Kirk Homenick scored 22 and Regan Switucka 14. Jayme Baciu led the Redmen with 13. Rob Thomson added 12 and Wade Paterson 12. The REdmen broke to a 15-3 lead. But Bachiu told the Regina Leader-Post that “right after we got up, we went cold. We let up and everything fell apart.” Homenick said “we can out a little slack. We needed to get our legs. Then we really got it going. We were able to get the ball inside and the shots started falling.” Bachiu said “they were giving us the outside shot and we just weren’t hitting the. They were really packing it in the paint.”

In the bronze medal match, the Regina Campbell Tartans dispatched the Regina Balfour Redmen 88-81 as Ryan Hoffman scored 19 and Ashley Cote 15. Nolton Knippel added 23. Marauders coach Mike Harrington told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix “the difference between getting that thing the little hole is not very much. We just got one more break than they did. There were some shots that didn’t go in that normally you would see go in but I have to credit that to their defence. Certainly, they force you to change the shot a bit. They do that very well. We just did everything we could to win it.” Souls coach Jeff Colquhoun said “there’s an old adage in basketball that championships always find a way to win. The last four times they have found a way to beat us. They have a lot of depth. That’s probably the difference.” With the score knotted at 69 and 37 seconds to play, Ken Morris hit a free throw. The Souls missed a shot and Morris fed Scott Ferguson, who fed Richard Lovelace for an insurance layup. Lovelace said “I wasn’t shooting good in the second half but I sunk the key shots at the end there. The coach said just go out there and don’t worry and good things will happen.” Knippel told the Regina Leader-Post that “it’s frustrating. All the games were basically like this one. One win would have been really nice, especially this one.” Morris said “I want to be there at the end to win it for the team. I like to be the guy to decide the outcome of the game.” Marauders assistant Dave Pekush played for the 1984 Walter Murray title team.
