Sheldon Sommerfeldt added 10 and Troy Zacharias 10. Mustangs coached Larry Larson told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “we just ran out of gas. That’s probably the best we’ve played all year, except the defence. To give up that many points really hurt us.” Gordon told the Regina Leader-Post that “we usually get the other teams tired out. Instead, we were the tired ones.”
In the other semi, the Saskatoon Aden Bowman Bears spanked the Regina Luther Lions 76-56 as Brad Schoenfeld scored 22 and Rob Fahr 14. Scott Dolff paced the Lions with 12. Herman Sattler added 11. The Bears led 39-27 at the half but the Lions drew within 48-45 before Brad Schoenfeld hit a pair of treys to ignite a 14-0 run. Schoenfeld told the Regina Leader-Post that “they were clogging up the inside, which left the outside sagging a bit. The shots just started dropping for us.” Luther had a pair of 6-11 forwards in Aaron Bell and James Baird. Humbert said “maybe those expectations people had for us were a little false. You can’t just look at a roster and see the size and judge from there.” Humbert told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix “we had them scared. It was on the line and they came through. The know how to win.”
In the bronze medal match, the Regina Luther Lions dispatched the Saskatoon Mount Royal Mustangs 83-69 as Terry Ross scored 14, James Baird 12 and Herman Sattler 12. Lions guard Kobie Brandt told the Regina Leader-Post “there was no pressure on us.” Forward Terry Ross added that “we wanted to win everything. It’s something that we’re always going to remember.” Lions coach Paul Humbert said “we wanted something (a medal) to remember each other by.” Mustangs coach Larry Larson told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “we should have beaten them. They did a real good job defending against Brent (Gordon). He sometimes feels like he has to carry the load and that’s a lot of pressure. Overall, I’m really proud of our team. They didn’t get intimidated.” Sheldon Sommerfeld led the Mustangs with 18. Troy Zacharias added 18 and Jordan Hardy 14. The Mustangs (coached by Larry Larson) also included Brent Gordon, Kenton Millar.

Jeff Kearns paced the Tartans with 11. Aaron Beattie added 11 and Tim Anaka 11. Bears coach Ralph Schoenfeld told the Regina Leader-Post that the title was a great cap to a (41-0) season. “I didn’t want to add up the wins or reflect on the streak until this season was finally over. Now that we’ve climbed that hill for the second year in a row, we can look at the picture in front of us. And the picture looks great.” The Bears led 35-27 at the half. Tim Anaka hit a pair of free throws to draw the Tartans within 54-52 but the Bears broke it open with a 7-0 run. Schoenfeld told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “something like this sinks in two or three days later. When the adrenalin stops flowing, then you have time to reflect. It’s really special having my son (Brad) go through it too. And the rest of the team, I’ve known most of them since they were in grade school, so they’re like family.” Tartans coach Glenn Szabo said “we have speed and creativity. It took a very disciplined team to beat us. We have nothing to hang our heads about.” Beattie said “there were a few defensive breakdowns on our part which were kind of demoralizing. We tried to concentrate on Brad Schoenfeld and Ron Davies, because they’ve done well on us in the past.” Brad Schoenfeld noted “they played good and we played good.”
