Cougars rookie coach Kathy Maki told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that “we accomplished everything we set out to do this year. They lost to L.C.B.I. by one point last year and didn’t qualify for provincials, so that was really on our minds this year. Some of the kids have been playing on the senior team since they were in grade 9, so they’ve kind of been looking for this for four years. We’ve played really well all year and beat some good teams, some teams from schools that are a lot bigger than us. … We knew we had the talent.”
