Three Oaks coach Jason Gallant told the Charlottetown Guardian that his team’s speed proved the difference. “We’re quicker, more athletic. We push. We use it to our advantage. It’s nice to have a good win here today.” Gallant told the Summerside Journal-Pioneer that “it was a great way to end the year. We worked hard and the kids really deserved it this year . . . After being upset last year in the final, the goal was to get back here and win this time.” The key was an “up-tempo pace,” he added. “We pushed the ball and we just had better athletes who moved it down the floor and Souris had a tough time keeping up in the end,” said Gallant. “It was our athleticism that eventually won it for us.” The Axemen broke to a 12-4 lead and extended the margin to 25-13 at the half. Souris rallied within 65-48 at the end of three quarters. “We stumbled a little bit for a few minutes in the third quarter and Souris came back and put us back on our heels for a minute,” said Gallant. “We called a quick timeout and got the boys to gather together and we pushed it right back at them.”
