In the final, the 5th-seeded Summerside Three Oaks-A Axemen defeated the 6th-seeded Elmsdale Westisle Wolverines 42-37 as their up-tempo offence eventually wore the Wolverines down. Brian Richard paced the Axemen with 13. Shannon Dumaresque added 8. Matthew Sentner led the Wolverines with 10. Coach David MacEachern told the Charlottetown Guardian that he was pleased his Axemen overcame a sluggish start. “Both teams had hard games in the semis. That probably contributed to the low scoring and the slow start to the game. I told the boys at half-time that we had to help out more on defence, which we did. Other than that, we basically stuck to our game plan and tried to move the ball around on offence. We have them the shot from the outside but they kept trying to force the ball inside. We just jammed the key and didn’t give them any easy baskets. We forced them into turning the ball over which allowed us to get some fast break baskets early in the second. That got things going our way.”
