Elmsdale Westisle took a 38-13 lead into halftime and never looked back. A key to Westisle’s victory was the play of seniors Santana Wedge, Ashton Gallant and Natalie Shea. “Ashton controls the tempo of the game and is dangerous with the outside shots, and Santana, on the inside, can just cut through and hit the basket,” said Elmsdale Westisle coach Dana Gard. “Natalie, defensively is hard to get by . . . she’s very tenacious.” Wedge scored a game-high 22 points and Gallant finished with 21. Emily Gallant added 8. Gard said it was a total team effort. “I used the whole bench and have seven Grade 10s and they transitioned into the game well . . . the whole team played great,” he said. “I’m proud of them all. … They’re the greatest group of girls that you could ever ask for.” Kelsey McNally led Morell with 19.
