The 2nd-seeded Hamilton Lincoln Prep Huskies bombed the 7th-seeded London Southwest Academy Forest 88-54. In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Oakville King’s Christian Collegiate Cavaliers dusted the 6th-seeded Ottawa Capital Courts Academy 94-64. Capital Courts (in its first year in the league and coached by Fabienne Blizzard, assisted by Murray Shoup and Awo Farah) included Merissah Russell, Isabella Gaudet, Cassandra Joli-Coeur, Marie-Laeticia Ziba, Rachel Neumann, Lauren MacPhee, Shakira Emerson and Marlo Steenbakkers.
In the semis, the top-seeded Brantford TRC Academy Wolfpack nipped the 4th-seeded Whitby Durham Elite 82-78. The Elite (coached by Christa Eniojukan, assisted by Kim Gibbs and Chantal John) included Julia Chadwick, Keishana Washington, Kylee O’Hara, Rebecca Demeke-Marzan, Sarai Bailey, Wilo Thomas, Jolesha Allen, Raphaela Toussaint, Zakiyya Messam, Andela Kalfic and Zoe Hutchins.
In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Hamilton Lincoln Prep Huskies edged the 3rd-seeded Oakville King’s Christian Collegiate Cavaliers 71-69. The Cavaliers (coached by Zelimir Stevanovic, assisted by Alana Juzenas and Ray Kim) included Laeticia Amihere, Christina Morra, Teah Stupar, Yasmine Ahl-Lamara, Lauren Boers, Mide Oriyomi, Margaret Lovtsova, Katie Hartman, Tiena Neale, Arianne Soriano and Rachel Brown.
In the final, the 2nd-seeded Hamilton Lincoln Prep Huskies dispatched the top-seeded Brantford TRC Academy Wolfpack 84-72 to win their second consecutive crown. “It’s amazing – all the work we put in throughout the season is paying off and we played a full 40 minutes which is what we wanted to do and the outcome is what we wanted so we’re happy,” Finals MVP and 6-2 University of Utah-bound Niyah Becker told North Pole Hoops. “We made sure we were running transition a lot and we had a great game plan going in – we were prepared and knew what we wanted to do and we executed.” Becker contained TRC star guard Makayla Ennis to just 7 points on 3-16 from the floor. Brynn Masikewich paced the Huskies with 30 points and 22 boards. The Wolfpack led 38-25 at the half. “After halftime we kind of came together and it was go time,” said Masikewich. “We just kind of did what we had to do and we got the job done!”
