In the last quarterfinal, the 5th-seeded London John Paul II Jaguars defeated the 4th-seeded Brantford St. John’s Green Eagles 49-41 after leading 26-19 at the half. Oditte Odisho led the Jaguars with 21. Danielle Carriere added 11. Jessica Del Signore paced the Eagles with 11. Lauren Chan added 11. The Eagles took a 4-0 lead against the Jaguars but then John Paul II went on an unbelievable 20-0 run. St. John’s scored the final five points of the quarter to trail 20-9 going into the second quarter. “They just shot the lights out,” said Eagles’ coach Steve vanLeeuwen of the Jaguars’ 20-point run. The Eagles outscored the Jaguars 10-6 in the second quarter to trail 26-19 at the half. “We made a number of runs at them (in the second half),” said VanLeeuwen. “We got to within two (points) with three minutes to play. We just couldn’t push over the hump. We didn’t shoot the ball as well as we would have liked.”

Amanda Pepin added 11. “We knew people were writing us off this year and even I wasn’t too sure,” Crusaders coach Rich Wesolowski told the Hamilton Spectator. “We had a lot of turnovers. I was very happy the way things turned out. The kids really put it together. I was impressed. It was fun to watch. … We beat the three-seed (St. Clair), almost beat the two-seed (Eastern Commerce) and beat the top seed in the bronze-medal game. We had Eastern Commerce sweating. It was the only tight game they were in all tournament.
