In the provincial quarterfinals, held in London, the 3rd-seeded London Oakridge Oaks defeated the 6th-seeded Sault Ste. Marie Mount St. Joseph Royals 52-51 in overtime as Allie Peckham scored 14. Sarah Cameron led St. Joseph with 18. Danielle Marchand added 11. The Royals Melanie Roach told the Sault Star that the loss was “heartbreaking.” The Royals had rallied from a 15-point first half deficit to force the extra session. They trailed 51-48 in overtime but Marchand hit a trey to trim the margin to one but they were unable to get a shot off at the buzzer. Royals coach Don Muto said “we were down by 15 because of their pressure defence. They pressed the whole game and trapped all over the floor. We don’t defence like that in the Sault.” The Royals (coached by Don Muto and Marylynn Palarchio) also included Danielle Marchand, Melanie Roach, Lisa Febbraro, Hollie McNally, Rayann Cole, Jennifer Broad, Pam Roach, Jennifer Jonusatis and Erin Soucheriau.

       In the last quarterfinal, the 2nd-seeded Hamilton Westdale Warriors defeated the 7th-seeded Ottawa Sir Robert Borden Bengals 45-30 as Katherine McColl scored 20. Raquel Burke led Borden with 15. Westdale jumped to a quick 9-0 run and never lost control. “We’ve never played a team half as physical as them,” said Burke. “We just don’t see teams that aggressive back home and we weren’t prepared for it. That hurt us.” The three-time national capital champs could not play at the tempo of the Warriors. Westdale coach Amos Connolly double-teamed Burke with 5-10 forwards Christin Dickenson and Katherine McColl. “It was the only way to play her because she is so talented.” The Bengals (coached by Shelley Barnes and Heather McAlpine) also included Kristen Eisner, Krista Scobie, Dayna Graham, Susan Ellis, Cathy Wilson, Katrina Parker, Tami Callender, Sam Rapoport, Heather Wilson, Krista Smiley and Allison Reed.

       In the semi-final, the host London Central Golden Ghosts stunned the top-ranked Hamilton St. Mary’s Crusaders 60-59 as Vanessa Richardson hit a pair of free throws with four seconds to play. Richardson couldn’t believe her team had avenged a loss to the Crusaders in the 1997 final. “I was shaking but I remembered what happened last year and just couldn’t let my team lose,” Richardson told Canadian Press. Richardson finished with 23. The Crusaders led 59-54 as Tami Asquith hit a pair of free throws with 56 seconds to play. Asquith’s shot at the buzzer went awry. “We did not play our best ball. … They beat us,” Asquith told the Hamilton Spectator. Ashleigh Cuncic led St. Mary’s with 14. Crusaders coach Chris Oliver said “that’s on my shoulders. That’s totally my responsibility. You have to be five points better than Centennial at that stage.”

       In the other semi, the Hamilton Westdale Warriors edged the London Oakridge Oaks 63-58 as Katherine McColl scored 27 points. Shona Thornburn nailed a host of free throws down the stretch as the Warriors pulled out the win. Alana Shaw led the Oaks with 16.

       In the bronze medal match, the London Oakridge Oaks shocked the top-seeded Hamilton St. Mary’s Crusaders 49-48 as Alana Shaw scored 28. Tami Asquith paced the Crusaders with 13. The Crusaders (coached by Chris Oliver, assited by Jackie White and George Lamparski) also included Ashleigh Cuncic, Casie Kergan, Jesse Anugs, Jen Brzozowski, Cortney Cuncic, Amanda Kergan, Lisa Ketchmark, Lisa Critchley, Julie Lamparski, Nicole Powell, Leanne Rowthorn, Andrea Wade, Emily Wearing, Julia Williams and Renee Beach.
