Catholic Central coach Pete Cusumano ranks Mulder has “a 44-inch vertical (jump) and long arms so it’s really poetic the way he gets up there.” Mulder said “we knew they had some talented guards and our job was to lock them up as best we could.” Mychal Mulder and Shavon Gayle each scored 18 to pace the Comets. Shavon Gayle added 17, Malique Calloo 7 and Eriq Jenkins 6. Daniel Dooley and Jordan Scott each scored 11 to pace the Fighting Irish.

        In the bronze medal match, the 4th-seeded Burlington Notre Dame Fighting Irish stomped the 2nd-seeded Scarborough Jean Vanier Mavericks 67-46 after leading 18-10, 33-19 and 43-31 at the quarters. “There were a lot of people saying we couldn’t do it this year,” having graduated Grant Mullins to Columbia University, said Notre Dame’s Jordan Scott. “Grant’s an unbelievable player who’s doing great at Columbia, but we wanted to prove something to the people who thought he was all we had.” The Irish built an early lead and coasted. “It was a great feeling,” said Scott. “Last year, we were the No. 1 seed, so we pretty much had to win a medal or it was a disappointment. This year, we had to prove we could win the right games at the right time.” Mike Mullins, Grant’s younger brother, missed more than a month, including the Halton playoffs, with an ankle injury. Scott said that kept Notre Dame motivated because the players didn’t want their teammate to watch his last high school game from the bench. Scott hit four three pointers in the opening half, opening up the floor for the Irish as it built a 33-19 lead heading into the half. Daniel Dooley dominated the second half. “Daniel Dooley showed he’s one of the best in controlling the floor and scoring,” Brian Miller said. “Last year, we could outscore anyone. “This year, we had to be better defensively, even though we still had that threat of scoring at will.” Daniel Dooley paced the Fighting Irish with 25.
