In the final, the Windsor Patterson Panthers snapped the 71-game winning streak of the Niagara Falls CVI Red Raiders in a 65-59 thriller. The score was knotted seven times, including 13-13 at the first quarter. Niagara Falls was up 33-27 at the half, but Windsor, which trailed by eight midway through the third, rallied with timely perimeter shooting. Triano had scored to open the second half for Niagara Falls but Windsor responded with an 8-0 run. With the score tied at 49, Patterson finally moved ahead on a hoop by Tommy Grant and a free throw by Gary Weir. Wilbert Ott then hit two free throws and Patterson found itself up by six. CVI rallied to 61-59 but the Panthers froze the ball for the remainder of the game. Morgan Clark hit a field goal and Tommy Grant hit two free throws to seal victory. The game’s hero was Wilbert Ott, the sole Patterson starter who hadn’t been named all-city but who scored a season high 24. Tommy Grant added 16, Gary Weir 12, Gene Dziadura 6, Neil MacEwan 3, Morgan Clark 2 and Luke Daneliuk 2, while Werner Day, Norm Simpson and Bill Gardner were scoreless.
