In the provincial quarterfinals, held at the University of Toronto’s Hart House, the Niagara Falls CVI Red Raiders prevailed 69-42 over Aurora St. Andrews College First as Dick MacKenzie scored 23, Howie Triano 14, Bill Burleigh 0, Logan 5, Janvary 7, Pete Potter 11, Fisher 2, Coulson 0, McColl 0, Renzetti 0, Bromhall 2 and Larry Triano 3. Niagara started slowly, moving ahead 16-9 after a quarter and 31-23 at the half. But when St. Andrews post Don Paterson fouled out early in the third quarter, the Red Raiders took command, moving ahead 46-30 after three quarters. Coulter Osborne scored 16 to lead St. Andrews (coached by Horace Kendall). Paterson added 8, Biekenbach 0, Gartin 8, Ryall 5, Mooney 0, Parker 0, Findlay 0, Vaughan 2 and Hector 2.

In the final, the Niagara Falls CVI Red Raiders edged the Windsor Patterson Panthers 65-63. The final opened with a long jumper by Howie Traino after 15 seconds of play and up-tempo was on Coach Jimmy Rose’s Red Raiders entered the game as favorites and were ahead 19-12 at quarter; 34-27 at half and 55-47 at three-quarter mark, paced by Dick MacKenzie ball handling. The Falls were up by ten entering the final quarter but Tommy Grant hit three jumpers in a row, John Finch added on and Windsor took the lead 62-62 with two minutes to go. Patterson’s Don Parsons fouled MacKenzie with 1:20 go and he two free throws to the game at 63. Both Parsons and Neil MacEwan had opportunities to give Windsor the lead in the final minute but missed their shots. Potter then raced up the floor, swerved to his right hit a long looping jumper with 59 seconds to go to give Niagara Falls the victory. Windsor had three shots at tying the game but missed all three attempts. Niagara Falls was led by post Dick MacKenzie’s 24 points, Howie Triano’s 19 and Pete Potter’s 12. Fisher added 6, Coulson 0, Logan 0, Janvary 4, McColl 0, Renzetti 0, Bromhall 0, Larry Triano 0 and Bill Burleigh 0. Windsor was led by center Harold Newton, who scored 18 before fouling out. Parsons added 13, Jack Finch 10, Tommy Grant 19, Neil MacEwan 2, Hoffman 0, MacCallum 0, Boyce 0, Phelps 0, Fletcher 0, Scheurman 0 and Zeno Karcz 1.
