We didn’t follow the game plan we needed to, which cost us.” Sinclair said the Lynx couldn’t contain Burke. “Sometimes, we just forgot to switch, and then they would shoot a three. Just a few bad possessions in the end.” Knights coach Marcy McCarty said “it’s bittersweet that it’s not gold, but we knew coming in our joke was to complete the set. If it wasn’t going to be gold, it was going to be bronze. Now, we have one of each colour over the last four years.” McCarty said that in the second half “we implemented some new defensive techniques that we’ve been practising coming in, and we hadn’t shown yet. I think that allowed us to calm down a little, get the nerves out. … We also really needed to focus on finishing on offence, and not rushing the shot and not rushing the pass. I think that was the big difference with the girls is they just really took a breath.”

This was our mountain and we talked about climbing to the top. We made it happen. … This year it wasn’t just on the court. In that one year, we’ve just become more off a family. Off the court translated on the court. It’s been a long four years and a lot of work and it’s the greatest feeling and I get to share it with my best friends. It’s an amazing feeling because I get to share it.” Le Royal coach Linda Carriere said “I could tell from their eyes in the pre-game speech that they were so hungry for that gold medal. … Our first three games, we didn’t play all the good, but we played the whole bench and that makes a bit of a difference. They showed up to play when it was time to play. I have to give it to my five starters. When it’s time to do it, they get it done.”
