Nouvelle-Alliance Tornades 52-34 after leading 9-4, 27-14 and 43-25 at the quarters. Myriam Fontaine paced the Patriotes with 16. Marni Campeau added 9, Adriana Conti 8 and Danika Lalonde 8. Nichelle Yorke led the Tornades with 17. Ellie Cowan added 6 and Danielle Vigneault 4. “That’s real big; we’ve been working hard toward this for a very, very long time,” Patriotes co-captain Adriana Conti told the Cornwall Standard-Freeholder.

Patriotes coach Stephane Fontaine said the win was a testimony to years of effort, with several of the players having played together since they were ten. The Patriotes kept the Tornades on the perimeter. “Offence wins games, and defence wins championships,” said Adriana Conti. The Tornadoes drew to within 13-11 in the second quarter but the Patriotes responded with an 11-2 run and then capped the half with a grey by Danika Lalonde. Conti said team chemistry was instrumental to the win. “We know everybody and knew what to try to get the most high percentage shots.” Fontaine concurred. “It’s just good team chemistry, they just love the game.” The Patriotes led by as many as 24.
