The score was knotted at 54 after regulation. Blues coach Peter Graham told the Timmins Daily Press that his troops should have prevailed in overtime. “With 14 seconds left, we had the ball and we were called for an in-bound violation, that more than likely wasn’t an in-bound violation. That happens, but we fouled and we were down three. Then (Jack Hagerty) hit a three-pointer with 1.4 seconds left to force overtime. I am so proud we were able to bounce back so quickly.” Graham said there was nothing left in the tank for overtime. “Notre Dame is from Ottawa and they weren’t just the best ‘A’ team from there, they were the best Ottawa team period. We ran out of gas a little bit in overtime and foul trouble played a factor. We also missed some shots I thought we normally would have made. The effort certainly was there. … They got out in transition against us in the second quarter. Then, in the third quarter, we weren’t finishing around the rim. Their length was a little bit of problem, as well, until we found a rhythm. Once we settled down, we scored 20 points in the fourth quarter. I was happy with that, but certainly their transition and us not finishing as well as we should have were issues. Traditionally, we try to get out in transition. They are a good team and I said to the guys, there is no shame in losing to them. They are athletic, quick and they shoot the ball well.” Sam Douf paced the Silver Eagles with 22. Chris Lachapelle led the Blues with 14.

In the bronze medal match, the 3rd-seeded Timmins High and Vocational School Blues defeated the 4th-seeded Mississauga Ecole Secondaire Sainte-Famille Les Cougars 44-37 after leading 10-9, 22-15 and 34-24 at the quarters. “Our zone offence was working really well,” Blues coach Peter Graham told the Timmins Daily Press. “We had played them last year at ‘AA’ OFSAA and we played them in a consolation final at another tournament, so we had a pretty good idea of what they were going to do against us. They pretty well stayed in zone the entire game and our ball movement was great. Our defence was really tenacious, as well, and we did a good job of limiting their open looks. … Chris Lachapelle brought an intensity that our other guys fed off of. He had a no-quit attitude, whether it was Game 1 at OFSAA or Game 5. He was able to control some things on offence for us and he was very disruptive on defence. Jay Chenier did a fantastic job of being the Energizer Bunny for us on defence and Kevin Lablond, in our second game and in our third game, did a great job of facilitating and getting to the rim. That was the difference when we played the No. 6 seed from London. Teams traditionally key in on Chris and Chris did his job on offence to be a decoy and then Kevin, down the stretch, did a good job of getting to the rim. Jack Hagerty hit a big three for us in that same game to get us up five and put the game away. He did the same thing to force overtime against Notre Dame. There was no hesitation during the time out we took from any of us. We knew we were going to run a set to get Jack the ball and he certainly delivered in back-to-back games. To be able to bounce back after losing a tough semifinal game and win the bronze medal, I am really proud of that effort.” Timmins finished (28-3) on the campaign. Chris Lachapelle led the Blues with 16. Samuel Pierre-Jacques paced Les Cougars with 7. Les Cougars also included Lukas Kairys, Eloge Soke Zanga, Jordan Louise, Jason Manirakiza, Daniel Lukonga, Yannis Abbet, Yori Ewardville, Mandengue Moukoko, Brunel Surnois, Chris Emian, Joshua Manirakiza, Joseph Desroches and Cheik Tchouambou.
