In the semis, the Elgin Rideau District Lions dumped the Rockcliffe Ashbury Colts 87-65. The Lions led by 10 early but Ashbury rallied to within two before a 5-0 run gave Rideau District a 52-45 lead at the half. Glenn Hayes hit a pair of treys early in the third quarter as the Lions got back on track and romped. Shawn Plancke and Brad Mainse combined for 36 boards to ignite the Lions’ transition offence. Rick Taylor led Rideau District with 24, including six treys. Shawn Plancke added 19, Glenn Hayes 17 and Derryck Campbell 15. Hugh Bell paced the Colts with 27.
In the other semi, the Woodstock College Institute Red Devils stunned the top-seeded St. Thomas Central Elgin Collegiate Institute Titans 55-54 in overtime as Rob Stafford scored 21. Chris Wismer led the Titans with 20.
In the bronze medal match, the top-seeded St. Thomas Central Elgin Collegiate Institute Titans dumped the Rockcliffe Ashbury Colts 71-54 as Chris Wismer scored 29. Hugh Bell led the Colts with 14. The Colts (coached by Andy Sparks, assisted by R.B. Napier) also included M Stevenson, A Baribeau, Chris Currie, B Valiquette, P McElligott, Tommy St. John, Topher Johnson, D Iny, J Starr and Alphonso Movilla.
In the final, the Elgin Rideau District Lions defeated the 4th-seeded Woodstock Collegiate Red Devils 67-57 to capture their second consecutive title. The Lions prevailed as a result of sterling defence, including three steals by Derryck Campbell and five blocks by Shawn Plancke. Whenever Woodstock packed the paint on Plancke, the Lions kicked the ball out to Glen Hayes and Rick Taylor for perimeter jumpers. The Lions led 39-20 at the half and Woodstock was able to rally no closer than 10. Shawn Plancke and Rick Taylor each scored 15. Glenn Hayes added 14 and Brad Mainse 12. Rideau District finished (34-9) on the season.
