In the quarterfinals, the Burford Bobcats defeated the Mitchell District Blue Devils 55-42 as Heino Blaauw 15, Greg Robertson 14. Leo Omorean 12.

        The Tillsonburg Annandale Marauders defeated the Lakefield District Tigers 78-57.

        The Odessa Ernestown Eagles defeated the Tecumseh St. Anne’s Saints 71-60 as Gary Powley scored 17, Paul MacKay 14, Ralph Dorin 13 and Richard Solc 12. Eagles coach Tom Frood told the Kingston Whig-Standard that “we’ve got by far the smallest team here but the players are shooting well. We’re playing our best ball of the season right now. The guys are rising to meet the challenge.” The Saints included Ron Desjardins, Mark Renaud, Larry Loebach, Mulder, Heath, Dunning, Mailloux.

        In the last quarterfinal, the Stoney Creek Saltfleet Storm clipped Capreol High 80-31.

        In the semis, the Burford District Bobcats defeated the Ernestown Eagles 75-72 as Greg Robertson scored 24 and Gerry Hoostraten 17. Bobocats coach Arnie Valian told the Brantford Expositor that Hoostraten has “always had the ability. But he’s one of of those kids who would always pass off.” Gary Powley paced the Eagles with 18.

        In the other semi, Stoney Creek Saltfleet dispatched the Tilsonburg Annandale Marauders 51-39.

        In the bronze medal match, the Tillsonburg Annandale Marauders defeated the Odessa Ernestown Eagles 73-45. Paul MacKay led the Eagles with 19. The Eagles (coached by Tom Frood) also included Ralph Dorin, Gary Powley, Rick Solc, Rod MacDonald.

        In the final, the Burford Bobcats topped the Stoney Creek Saltfleet Storm 56-50 (also reported as 58-50) to cap an undefeated (18-0) season. Heino Blauw paced the Bobcats with 22. Greg Robertson added 20. Mark Dupuis led the Storm with 20. The Bobcats trailed 32-22 at the half but coach Arnie Valian switched his troops to a zone defence and they rallied in the second half. The lead was traded five times down the stretch but then Heino Blaauw hit two free throws and a jumper to give the Bobcats a five-point lead with 1:45 to play. Valian told the Brantford Expositor “they just never quit. It looked as though we were out of it. Then we started to open up the offence and started scoring. You could feel the momentum swing. … They hustle and have great team spirit. That’s probably the team’s strength.”
