The quarterfinal game Friday night was a rematch of the SWOSSAA final with Amherst beating Wallaceburg this time 56-39. Up only six at the half, Amherst rolled in the second half despite being in foul trouble. Kristy Chute led the Lady Gens with 19 points, Ewer had 18, MacDonald seven while Danese and Marotte each scored six. Tiffany Wilbur led Wallaceburg with 17.

Marie St. Mary’s College Knights 57-39 as Chelsea Kane scored 28 and Rachel Hancock 16. The Blue Bombers led 18-13 at the half. Kathleen Thorburn led St. Mary’s with 15. Kira Favarro added 8 and Stephanie Colizza 6. Knights coach Dave Zagordo told the Sault Star that “it was tough for them to get up for the bronze medals.” The Knights (coached by Dave Zagardo) also included Brittany Denneny, Kyleigh Binkley, Shana Brown, Jen Thibeault, Julia Burgess and Lauren Sicoly.

       In the final, the top-seeded Amherstburg General Amherst Generals defended their title by dumping the 3rd-seeded Dundas Parkside Panthers 51-36. Jessica Ewer led General Amherst with 15 on five treys. Lynsey MacDonald added 14, Robin Marotte 7, Lyndi Meloche 6 and Daniela Danese 6. “I think defending it (the title) is harder,” MacDonald told the Windsor Star. “We had the pressure to defend and we had to come out and prove we could do it again.” Generals coach Don Silvaggio said his troops were once again able to rally in the second half. “We got off to some slow starts (in the tourney) and it seemed to take us a half to get going. (The third quarter), that’s where we seemed to win games. In the third, we knew we had to pick up our game.” The Lady Generals came out flat in this game as they trailed after one quarter and were tied 18-18 at the half. But they turned up the gas in the third quarter and outscored their opponents 16-3. Parkside had an 8-0 run in the third quarter but Amherst spread the floor, hit their layups and made their free throws to put the game away. Silvaggio said winning back-to-back OFSAA titles is special. “I think we were a lot better than we were last year. “As far as talent, they have a lot. They seem to rise to the occasion when they have to.”
