The top-seeded Huntsville Hoyas defeated the South Porcupine Roland Michener Rebels 60-18 as Tierney Hoo and Sarah McAnally each scored 16. Lisa St. Onge paced the Rebels with 6.

Crusaders coach Brian Henry told the Kitchener-Waterloo Record that “it was the first really tough game for both of us and I’m pleased at how we responded. They were as close as six points in the final quarter but Steph Wagler and Elspeth Arkell came off the bench when we got in foul trouble and played great.” Melissa Demers led the Red Raiders with 15. Jenn Nighswander added 13.

The 5th-seeded Fonthill E.L. Crossley Cyclones defeated the Amherstburg General Amherst DHS Generals 65-51 as Julie Reid scored 26. Shelley Johnson led General Amherst with 17. Tamara Larson added 14.

       In the semis, the top-seeded Huntsville Hoyas defeated the Fonthill E.L. Crossley Cyclones 43-37 as Tierney Hoo scored 24. Nadia Brenko led the Cyclones with 15. Brenko told the St. Catharines Standard “we just lost steam and lost momentum in the fourth quarter.”

       In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Tillsonburg Glendale Griffins defeated 2nd-seeded New Hamburg Waterloo-Oxford District Crusaders 42-36 as Rebecca Heeney scored 17. Aaron Yantzi led the Crusaders with 21. Yantzi told the Kitchener-Waterloo Record that “it was tough to lose the overtime game, especially after we cam from behind to get it tied in the last quarter. … It all came down to the fact that a good team beat us.” Yantzi scored the Crusadres las 15 points as they rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit. The score as knotted at 34 with 1:30 to play.

       In the bronze medal match, the 2nd-seeded New Hamburg Waterloo-Oxford District Crusaders clipped the 5th-seeded Fonthill E.L. Crossley Cyclones 54-37 as Aaron Yantzi scored 21. Yantzi told the Kitchener-Waterloo Record that “we all talked about winning our last game of the season and that’s what we wanted to do.” The Crusaders trailed by 12 in the first half but rallied to within 26-21 at the break and then dominated the third frame by a 23-9 count. Crusaders coach Brian Henry said “the heart and soul of this team all year has been the fact that we play well together. It would have easy for them to face in the medal game but we talked about our goal at the start of the season, which was to get to OFSAA, and win a medal. I’m proud, but not surprised at how they battled back in the final game.” Jodi Ebeling led the Cyclones with 16. The Cyclones (coach Taylor Gamble, assistant Steve Holman) also included Nadia Brenko, Stacy Gamble, Marilyn White, Laura Lemick, Staisa Masun, Jennifer Higgins, Julie Reid and Ashley McMackon. Brenko told the St. Catharines Standard that “we started out okay but we seemed to lose steam again. Of course, it’s disappoint but we had nothing to lose. We were ranked fifth.”

       In the final, the top-seeded Huntsville Hoyas defeated the 3rd-seeded Tillsonburg Glendale Griffins 59-55 as Tierney Hoo scored 23. Kathryn Lockey led the Griffins with 26. Hoyas coach George Hoo told the Huntsville Forester that “this was a tremendous team victory with everyone contributing. Despite trialing in both the semi and the final matches, our team never gave up and was determined to win.” The Griffins led 15-4 after one quarter. The Hoyas rallied to a 28-27 lead at the half and took command as Wendy Cowden hit back-to-back treys to give Huntsville a 42-34 lead.
