       In the final, the top-seeded Essex District Red Raiders defeated the 2nd-seeded Fonthill E.L. Crossley Saints 43-35 as Misty Brockman scored 16, Jana Verhdecky 8 and Teresa Mulcaster 7. Red Raiders coach Dan Fister told the Windsor Star that “we used a zone trap most of the season. But at this level of play, we felt our opponents would be experienced enough to pass through the trap, so we switched to a swarming man-to-man and it paid off. We didn’t press but we pressured the ball and dominated the boards all weekend. The kids were relentless on defence.” Stacy Collins led the Saints with 14. Nadia Brenko added 12. Saints coach Taylor Gamble, on winning a fourth consecutive silver, said “it’s difficult to do that well year after year. … You figure the odds one year will have to work out in our favour.”
