In the second round: …………………………………………………… The Rockcliffe Ashbury Colts stunned the 7th-seeded Timmins HVS Blues 59-50 as Janet (J.J.) Rawlinson scored 24, Deanah Shelly 23 and Nadya Dhalla 12. “We played a much better game against Timmins than we did against St. Lawrence,” coach Andy Sparks told the Ottawa Citizen. “But the scoresheet really pointed out our major failing. Only three of our players are proven scorers. The rest seldom shoot. They haven’t the confidence in their scoring ability so they seldom risk taking a shot. Instead, they pass to J.J., Deanah or Nadya. This makes it possible for the opposition to stack their defences and sometimes that gets us in real trouble.” Natasha Owen paced Timmins with 15. With just over three minutes left, they tied the score on a trey by Brooke Ducharme, her third of the second half. “We had the triangle guarding those two (guards Ducharme and Nicki Walsh), but we got slack. At halftime we were kinda cocky, Saints forward Shannon Burke told the Ottawa Citizen. “We were pretty worried, but we tried to keep it calm. The Crusaders led 40-38 and 42-41.
