In the quarterfinals, the 3rd-seeded Windsor John L. Forster Spartans defeated the host and 6th-seeded Timmins HVS Blues 43-39 after rallying from a 13-point deficit with three minutes to play. “It was a wild one,” coach Tom Halliwill told the Windsor Star. “We were up against the home team, in the home gym and we outscored them 25-7 in the final quarter to pull it out.” Forster led 5-4 after a quarter but trailed 18-9 at the half and 32-18 after three quarters. “There were a lot of people in the gym and it really helped get them pumped at the beginning,” said Halliwill. “We just couldn’t make a shot. I don’t know when the last time we scored nine points in a half would be.” Shannon Walker scored 11 of her 13 points in the final quarter, while Heidi Allen came off the bench and overcame the flu to provide a major spark. “She only got three points but she really seemed to spark us,” said Halliwill. “We put pressure on them and all of a sudden, we started making some shots. They started turning it over and it seemed like everything we threw up went in.” Melinda Pierce added 13 for Forster, while Susan Hood scored 9.

In the last quarterfinal, the Fonthill E.L. Crossley Cyclones spanked the Sydenham Golden Eagles 57-42 as Katya Masur scored 18, Jackie White 10 and Sandra Louby 9. The Golden Eagles (coach Doug McConnell) included Amy Dahm, Chrissy Dickson, Darcy Pickard, Stephanie Selle, Stephanie Ryan, O’Neill, Cindy Tindall, T Selle, K Dickson, Brassard and Meulenaar.

In the semis, the 3rd-seeded Windsor John L. Forster Spartans defeated the 7th-seeded London South Lions 50-41 as Melinda Pierce scored 21, Susan Hood 15 and Shannon Walker 7.

In the other semi, the 4th-seeded Chatham John McGregor Panthers dispatched the Fonthill E.L. Crossley Cyclones 44-41. Katya Masur paced the Cyclones with 10. Sandra Louby added 10. The Cyclones took a 37-36 lead with three minutes to play but Jackie White injured an ankle, which allowed the Panthers to regroup.

In the bronze medal match, the Fonthill E.L. Crossley Cyclones clubbed the London South Lions 40-20 as Jennifer Youngblut scored 17.

In the final, the 4th-seeded Chatham John McGregor Panthers defeated the 3rd-seeded Windsor John L. Forster Spartans 54-51 in a rematch of the 1992 final. The title was decided at the foul line. “It was bizarre, really bizarre,” Forster coach Tom Halliwill told the Windsor Star. “After the first half, we had two free throws and they had 16. They were shooting the bonus four minutes into the game. They (the officials) took us right out of game. It just got worse and worse.” The Panthers hit 20-26 from the line, while the Spartans were 13-21. “We outscored them on the floor but got beat at the foul line,” said Halliwill. “They shot well from the line.” The score was knotted at 24 at the half. McGregor led 40-36 after three quarters. “We tied it once in the fourth quarter but then we started the foul shooting contest again.” Michelle DeHaan paced McGregor with 27. Melinda Pierce led Forster with 17. Stephanie Robinson added 12. Susan Hood added 11, Shannon Walker 9 and Heidi Allen 8.
