In the quarterfinals, the 5th-seeded Amherstburg General Amherst Generals defeated the 4th-seeded Markham District H.S. Marauders 48-37. Determined to avenge an overtime quarterfinal loss to Markham in the 1987 tourney, the Generals took a 17-3 lead romped to an easy win. “Last year, we were the ones crying at this time so we worked hard to ensure that it didn’t happen again this time,” Shannon Buchner told the Windsor Star. General Amherst broke an early 8-0 lead and extended it to 31-16 at the half. “The first two minutes of a game are very important,” said Generals forward Renee Laframboise. “You have to get into the game early.” Marauder Lynn Taylor said ‘I guess we weren’t ready.” Laframboise notched 10 for General Amherst, as did Amy Bondy. Shannon Buchner added 9, Sheri MacDonald 8 and Lori Miller 6. “We work on the offence to get everyone shots,” said Laframboise. “We like to feed Shannon a lot to take advantage of the height mismatch but we all get our chances.” The Generals hit 14-18 from the line. Lynn Taylor led the Marauders with 12. “I guess we weren’t ready,” said Marauders’ Lynn Taylor. “We played them earlier in the year at a tournament and they blew us out in the first quarter and they did it again today.”
The 2nd-seeded Chatham John McGregor Panthers dusted the 7th-seeded Georgetown District Rebels 44-25.

In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Sarnia Northern CI Vikings edged the 6th-seeded Fonthill E.L. Crossley Cyclones 43-40.
In the semis, the 3rd-seeded Sarnia Northern Vikings upset the 2nd-seeded Chatham John McGregor Panthers 43-41 in overtime.
In the other semi, the top-seeded Sarnia Collegiate Blue Bombers defeated the 5th-seeded Amherstburg General Amherst Generals 48-39. The Blue Bombers led by one entering the final quarter but exploded with an 8-0 run to seal the win. “It was by far the toughest team we’ve faced all tournament,” Blue Bomber Maureen Robertson told the Windsor Star. “I was really worried that we’d lose this game.” Robertson and Kelly Buchanan each scored 15 to lead the Blue Bombers. Shannon Buchner led the Generals with 12. Renee Laframboise added 10 and Lori Miller 9. “You just can’t key on any one person on that team,” said Miller. “Every single one of them can bring the ball up the court and every one of them can shoot. In the fourth quarter, they just buckled down and played better than us.”
In the bronze medal match, 2nd-seeded Chatham John McGregor Panthers defeated the 5th-seeded Amherstburg General Amherst Generals 49-47. The Generals led by nine in the second quarter but faltered down the stretch. “Everyone was just so tired and we couldn’t get as pumped to go to the basket,” Shannon Buchner told the Windsor Star. The Panthers rallied to within six at the half. Buchner said “all of a sudden nothing was working for us. The plays we were running just weren’t working. I was just exhausted by the end of the game. OFSAA is always a hard thing. You have to have a lot of endurance and a strong bench. … It just seems like we didn’t get any easy breaks.” But Generals coach Russ Scott kept his starters in. Buchner finished with 17 points. Panthers guard Shelby Sims said “we tried to work the ball to Renee Ladoucer and Juli Elders because they’re both very strong, even against Shannon Buchner.” Amy Bondy added 16 for the Generals, while Sheri MacDonald scored 11. Ladouceur paced the Panthers with 13. Shelby Sims added 11. The Panthers took the lead with a minute to play on free throws by Juli Elders and Stephanie Byers. Panther Shelby Sims said “We tried to work the ball to Renee (Ladoucer) and Juli (Elders) because they’re both very strong, even against Shannon.”
In the final, the top-seeded Sarnia Collegiate Blue Bombers defeated the 3rd-seeded Sarnia Northern Vikings 45-39.
