We’re not even close to the talent we had when we won (1984, 1985 and 1986). Last year, we had more talent but lost. … We had to do that (dictate the tempo). Athletically, we don’t match up with them. Our guards (Johnson and Joe Gaces) match up pretty well but we ran four speciality defences on them and I think we kept them off balance.” Chris Johnson said “coach tells us what the other team’s going to be like. He tells us how to defend them and what we have to do to win. All we have to do is go out there and do it.” Ibrahim Tounkara led the Rebels with 31.
