       In the quarterfinals, the Belle River St. Anne Catholic Saints defeated the Welland HVS Tigers 73-63. The Tigers included Dan Sardella, Perry Orosz, Marty Fitzgerald, Dave Bernatz, Frank Aiello.

       The Owen Sound West Hill Raiders clipped the Kenora Beaverbrae Broncos 46-34 as Steve Jackson scored 16, Ray Bergstra 14, Ken Lougheed 10, Rob Quesnel 4, Dave Hill 2, Scott Baker 2 and Doug Charleton 2. Raiders assistant Lorne Johnson told the Owen Sound Sun Times that “basically, we controlled the offence for the third three quarters. Kenora wasn’t a strong outside shooting team. We give then too many points in the paint and we controlled the ball.”

       The Sarnia Central Centaurs edged the North Bay Chippewa Secondary Raiders 59-54. Lanny Jobin led the Raiders with 21. The Raiders (coached by Dick Stewart) also included Greg Innes, John Greco, Blaine Schmidt, Bob Faubert.

       In the semis, the Belle River St. Anne Catholic Saints defeated the Timmins HVS Blues 59-54 as Doug Byrne hit five of six free throws in the final 30 seconds of play.

       In the other semi, the Owen Sound West Hill Raiders whipped the Sarnia Central Centaurs 63-49 as Ray Bergstra scored 26 on 14-17 from the line, Steve Jackson 11, Ken Lougheed 11, Scott Baker 8 and Dave Hill 7. Raiders assistant Steve Johnson told the Owen Sound Sun Times that “we weren’t really satisfied with getting much ofa lead but we changed our offence (defence? late in the game from man-on-man to zone. We improved our outside shooting and Baker hit a couple of corner shots to give us a bit of a cushion. Then we sank some late foul shots.”

In the bronze medal match, the 2nd-seeded Timmins HVS Blues defeated the Sarnia Central Centaurs 75-54.

       In the final, the Lakeshore Ste. Anne Saints defeated the top-seeded Owen Sound West Hill Raiders 58-48 as Jim Pitre scored 14, John Tonial 13, Steve Byrne 11, Doug Byrne 10 and Mike O’Rourke 10. “This wasn’t one year in the making. It was four years in the making. And it was not only skill that won this tournament. It was heart,” coach Mike Eremic told the Windsor Star. Steve Jackson paced Owen Sound with 12. Ray Bergstra added 11, Dave Hill 11, Scott Baker 6, Ken Lougheed 4 and Doug Charlton 4. Raiders assistant Lorne Johnson told the Owen Sound Sun Times that “there was tremendous pressure in that final game but we handled it well, particularly since this was the biggest game of our life for all these players. We got behind in that first half due to foul trouble probably because the boys were really hyped up. Maybe they were trying too hard. Bergstra and Charlton got into foul trouble early and after Bergstra’s fourth foul, we had to shuffle him in and out of the lineup. He finally fouled out with 20 secnds left in the game.”
