The Orangeville District Scarlett Bears clipped the Timmins HVS Blues 46-30 as Gerry Henry scored 20 and nabbed 11 boards. The Scarlett Bears effectively stalled the last four minutes of the first half and eventually forced Timmns out of their zone and into a man-to-man defence. Scarlett Bears co-coach Ed Boates told the Kingston Whig-Standard that “we were forced into a game plan we didn’t want to use.” Co-coach Gary Gravelle said “they were in a zone and our big man (Henry) was in foul trouble. To protect him, we went to the stall. It seemed every time we were getting the ball to him, he was drawing a foul. So we did it more to protect him than anything else.” The Blues included Barkwell, Aikens, Campbell, Michaud, Storan, Castonguay, Novak, Fournier, Marrish, Greco, Kaye.
The Stratford Central Rams defeated the Welland HVS Tigers 78-69 as Henry Van Drunen scored 30 and Rick Erb 21. Rams coach Ian Garner told the Kingston Whig-Standard that “we seem to have a bit of trouble playing when we’re ahead. When we’re behind, we’re not afraid to shoot anywhere from the floor but when we’re behind, we seem to hesitate on a few shots.” Terry Annett led the Tigers with 17. In the final, the Chatham CI Cougars defeated the Milton Mustangs 57-54 as Rod Buckland scored 15, Wijsman 15, T Lowes 10, Oke 8, Karry 6 and Lacina 2, while Wall and Wickett were scoreless. Chatham led 47-32 after three quarters but Milton shifted to a press and stormed back. Paul Van Oorschot led the Mustangs with 16.
