In the quarterfinals of the first Ontario Federation of High School Athletic Associations tournament held in Thornhill, the Brantford St. John’s Green Eagles dumped Renfrew District High 53-48 as Barry Marynick scored 21, John Jamula 17 and Joe Pikula 14. Dirk Rogers paced Renfrew with 17. John Wilson added 14. Renfrew also included Lindsay Stewart, Jeff Burke.

        The Port Perry Rebels dumped the Timmins O’Gorman Knights 53-44 as Murray Blain scored 20, John Pickard 10 and Jim Burnett 9. Dennis Bernardi paced O’Gorman with 22. The Knights also included Dennis Mangan.

Athens District High defeated Hagersville 50-38 as Roger Greenham scored 19, Bob Greenham 11 and Don Greenham 10. Max King led Hagersville with 18. Wayne Mitchell added 9.

In the last quarterfinal, the Whitby Henry Street Hawks defeated the Parkhill North Middlesex Marauders 31-27 as Rick Switzer scored 10 and Bob Ing 9. Len Battram and Paul Johnson each scored 8 for Middlesex. Dave Waters added 6.

        In the semis, the Brantford St. John’s Green Eagles defeated Athens District HS 60-24 as Barry Marynick scored 27, Frank Petrella 16, Howard 8, Pikula 4, Carroll 3 and Jamula 2, while Villamere, Chmiel, Kelly and Dostal were scoreless. D Greenham led Athens with 18. Dixie added 5, R Greenham 6, Vickery 4, B Greenham 4, Brower 2 and Wallace 2, while Cameron, Ford and Wallace were scoreless.

        In the other semi, the Whitby Henry Street Hawks defeated the Port Perry Rebels 26-19.

        In the final, the Brantford St. John’s Green Eagles defeated Whitby Henry Street School 50-26 as Barry Marynick scored 35 on 15-26 from the floor. Frank Petrella added 8, Jamula 6, Howard 5, Carroll 2, Dostal 2 and Pikula 1, while Villamere, Chmiel and Kelly were scoreless. The Green Eagles led 7-2, 26-7 and 41-13 at the quarters. Doug Ing and Bob Ing each scored 10 to pace Whitby. Morrison added 3, Switzer 2, Orton 2 and Lomax 1, while Childs, Snelgrove, Goode and Henderson were scoreless.
