In the quarterfinals, held in London, Windsor Corpus Christi broke a five-year first round jinx by defeating the Toronto De La Salle Oaklands 66-31.
The London Catholic Central Crusaders edged the Etobicoke Michael Power-St. Joseph Trojans 52-49.
The Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders defeating the Brantford St. John’s Green Eagles 63-53 as Whalen scored 18, O’Neill 16, Barkici 9, Biranowski 8, Galun 5, Rebellato 5 and Gorman 2, while Robinson, Schmidt, Anthony and Baker were scoreless. Dave Hubbert led the Green Eagles with 17. Doug Emery added 14, Frank Petrella 13, Marynick 7, Bob Howard 2, while McQuinn was scoreless. The Green Eagles also included Joe Pikula, West, Wolski and Villamere.
In the semis, the defending champ the Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders defeated the Kitchener St. Jeromes Lions 41-39 as John O’Neill scored 16.
In the other semi, Windsor Corpus Christi defeated the London Catholic Central Crusaders 44-35.
In the final, the Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders captured its seventh title in nine years by defeating Windsor Corpus Christi 50-37 as John O’Neill scored 25. O’Neill was selected the tournament MVP. The other members of the all-star team were Barry Whalen of Toronto St. Michael’s and three of the Corpus Christi: Barry Tremblay, Jim Squire and Bob Bellaire.
