In the opening round: …………………………………………………… The Welland Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Toronto De La Salle Oaklands 79-42 as John Kerho scored 18. Jim Fitzpatrick led De La Salle with 16. The Oaklands also included Baker.

In the quarterfinals, the Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders dumped Peterborough St. Peter’s Saints 69-32 as Florian Matsalla scored 18. Doug Galvin and Fred Legros paced St. Peter’s with 12 apiece.

       In the other quarterfinal, the London Catholic Central Crusaders nipped the Welland Notre Dame Fighting Irish 42-33.

       In the semis, the London Catholic Central Crusaders defeated the Kitchener St. Jerome’s Lions 49-40. The Lions included Pete Stark, Sigsby Schneff, John Power, Elson Fernandes, Dave Putnam, Bob Elias, John Fehrenbach, Jim Smith, Tony Van Hee, Joe Schinstock, Jim Violenus and Joe Calzonetti.

       In the other semi, the Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders defeated the Hamilton Cathedral Gaels 58-52. The Gaels (coach Larry Sullivan) included Paul Condon, Jake Huschilt, Jim Donahue, Ron Cummins, Fred McKeon, Languay, Calzonetti, Di Francesco, Cronin, Rowe and Jaskula.

       In the final, the Toronto St. Michael’s Blue Raiders defeated London Catholic Central 44-39. St. Michael’s took an early 13-3 lead and extended it to 27-14 at the half. Catholic central trimmed the margin to 36-26 after three quarters but fell short of a complete rally because of inconsistent shooting. Their hopes all but dissipated when star forward John Howard fouled out early in the fourth quarter. Florian Matsalla paced St. Michael’s with 14. Ed Lynch added 12 and Frank Novac 7. Howard led London with 15. Bill Dunlap added 12 and Bill Loftus 8.
