Dragons coach Paul Brown told the Port Hawkesbury Reporter that “the girls worked extremely hard. They have the heart of a champion, but sometimes it’s just not your day. … We just didn’t make our shots in the big game. The effort was there, we battled well and played strong defence, but we didn’t make our free throws and missed some shots. If you’re not hitting your shots, it’s a long day. You can rebound a lot but with their size, you can’t match up. They have three six footers; their guards are 5’9 or 5’10. Our tallest is probably 5’11. We tried to penetrate the middle and kick out to the side, hopefully making the shot, but we struggled a little today.” Riley Beaton hit a pair of buckets to give the Dragons a 25-23 lead in the third quarter but Monarch captain Lauren Wentzell drained a trey to give Middleton the lead for good. Riley Beaton led the Dragons with 17. Brianna Dunn added 9, Carly Spears 7, Riley van den Heuvel 7 and Darcie Wilson 1. Dragons coach Paul Brown said “we didn’t end up with what we wanted, but we

still have a medal.”
