Cagla Sezgin led the Barons with 11. Sienna Devine added 5, Brittany Atwood 4, Savannah Hiltz 1 and Courtney Smith 1. The Barons (coached by Stephen Cullen) also included Nicole Atkinson, Faith Bower, Haley Waybret, Nadine Newell, Keisha Lent, Tomi McCarthy, Caleigh Belliveau, Savannah Ross, Duane Christie and Jenna Adams.
The 4th-seeded Mabou Dalbrae Academy Dragons edged the 5th-seeded Dartmouth Carrefour Leopards 63-59 as Brianna Dunn scored 25, Riley Beaton 15 and Molly MacEachern 10. Ariel Provo led the Leopards with 35. Savannah Provo added 10. The Leopards (coached by Katherine Howlett) also included Josiane Monard, Rebekah Howlett, Amelia Clarke, Coralie Robert, Rachel Howlett, Nadia Landry, Lis Hroux-Rhymes, Marie-Eve Joshua, Joelle D’Entremont, Lydia Emilcar, Stephanie MacLean and Sarah Howlett.
The 7th-seeded Windsor King’s-Edgehill stunned the 2nd-seeded New Germany Saints 49-44 as Catherine Rutledge scored 15, Anna Killacky 14 and Primrose Chareka 10. Emma Bruhm paced the Saints with 16. Emma Sue Wagner added 12. The Saints (coached by Marcus Noel, assisted by Donnie Hanhams) also included Abby Cook, Kaylee Hyson, Emma Delong, Janelle Hebb, Hailey Langille, Ashlyn Barkhouse, Taylor Bruhm, Katherine Porter and Abbey Doucette.
In the last quarterfinal, the 3rd-seeded Middleton Regional Monarchs whipped the 6th-seeded Terra Noire Cape Breton Highlands Academy Huskies 63-29 as Sydney Smith scored 21, Erica Theisen 13, Lauren Wentzell 11, Toni Jewer-Pineau 4, Eden Burke 4, Alaina Britney 3, Jennifer Adams 2, Tara Armstrong 2, Anika Mensing 2 and Martina Mackinnon 1. Hayley MacDonald and Eilidh Ross each scored 6 to pace the Huskies. Maia Ross added 5, Cassey Deveau 5, Taylor Boudrea-Deveaux 3, Emily Mackay 2 and Ali Doucet 2. In the bronze medal match, the Mabou Dalbrae Academy Dragons defeated the 7th-seeded x King’s Edgehill x 50-40 as Darcie Wilson scored 14, Molly MacEachern 10, Riley Van den Houzel 6, Carli Spears 5, Riley Beaton 5, Brianna Dunn 5, Shelby Rouse 2, Ali MacLean 2 and Hannah Beaton 1. Primrose Chareka paced King’s-Edgehill with 12. Josette Simboro added 7, Rachel Huntington 7, Catherine Rutledge 7, Anna Killacky 4, Lucy Killacky 2 and Maria Laforce 1. In the final, the 3rd-seeded Middleton Regional Monarchs nipped the top-seeded Springhill Golden Eagles 54-52 to capture their second consecutive provincial title. Erica Theisen paced the Monarchs with 18. Sydney Smith added 12, Lauren Wentzell 11, Sage Dixon 5, Toni Jewer-Pineau 4, Maridith Brown 2 and Jennifer Adams 2. Sydnee Balser led the Golden Eagles with 18. Rachel Terris added 13, Kylee Balser 10, Stephanie McCormick 6, Mallory Thompson 3 and Brenna Casey 2. The lead changed hands six times in the final two minutes. “This one was really tough,” said Monarchs coach Greg Bower. “We knew Springhill had a very explosive offense. They shoot the ball very well, a lot of three-point shooters, and they drive well. Our goal was to pressure them but not foul them. And we did a pretty good job of that. We’re really happy with how the kids responded to that and it was one of those games that was back and forth, back and forth – in doubt the whole way. But we sort of stayed with our game plan and did what we intended to do. To hold them to 52 points was quite a chore because they are a really high-scoring team. So we were really pleased with the effort we did defensively and made some outside shots that we haven’t always made, so it was nice.”
