In the final, the top-seeded Kennetcook Hants North Rural Flames whipped the 3rd-seeded Bridgewater Vikings 75-52. “We’ve got a pretty good group of kids,” coach John Tanner told the Enfield Weekly Press. “Toby [White] and I have had them for the past two years and I think the thing I was most impressed with is their work ethics, they do work hard. We practice a lot and they don’t seem to blink an eye; they thrive on it and are very committed. It’s been a joy coaching these kids.” White added that “they put a lot of time and effort into it now they are getting their success. They are hardworking, they come to practice every day and they put in a good effort every day.” The team included international exchange student Simon Petre of Belgium, who White said “had never played basketball before coming to HNRH. He’s improved a lot actually, I would say he is a natural athlete and he’s really picked things up. Simon doesn’t get that many baskets but when he does the other guys like to see that. They support each other really well.” Tanner said that “one thing I have noticed about them, even though they hate to lose, when they do lose, they can accept it. They don’t carry it off the court with them.” The Vikings, meanwhile, finished 22-11 on the campaign.
